about audio logical

We are a new and innovative company based in the North East of England but with links to partners Nationwide. The company was founded by Gary Holland, an Independent Audiologist and business owner with more than 30 years experience in the field. Gary has been involved in setting up hearing test programmes and providing medico legal reports for many years and has lectured extensively on Noise in the Workplace and how to avoid hearing damage at work.

The new Control of Noise at Work regulations 2005 require significant reduction in noise levels in many workplaces, and recommend increased use of Audiometry as a Health Surveillance tool to monitor the effectiveness of any hearing conservation programme, however many companies are at a loss at where to begin.

In the past, companies had to arrange for a firm of Noise consultants to come to the workplace and take various sound measurements to produce a report. This report was then used to identify problem areas and to highlight any employees who may be at risk from noise exposure. Most employers knew that carrying out regular hearing tests made sense and that having a "baseline" test for any new employees was essential. But, accessing appropriate Audiology services was difficult. Larger companies would often employ an Occupational Health nurse, who, with specific training and appropriate equipment could perform the tests.

Many others had to try and search out consultants or rely on the National Health Service to provide this service. This was often unreliable and often disjointed from the original Noise Survey.

the next stage

The next stage was then to make sure that all employees who could potentially be at risk from noise damage were identified, and where needed, be provided with appropriate hearing protection. Here again, someone had to take the responsibility of ensuring that any protection was "appropriate", as over-protection could be an additional hazard and would result in poor compliance.

We are able to manage this whole process for you, with a modular package that allows you to decide on the levels of service that you require at each stage. All of our assessments are carried out by qualified and competent personnel, and any reporting is supervised by or carried out by senior staff.

We think we are unique in offering this comprehensive service and we look forward to hearing from you.
